Dragonsavers Credit Union Named Best in UK

Dragonsavers Credit Union has been named the best in the UK and Ireland for exemplary service to its members across Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Plaid Cymru Leader Leanne Wood AM visited the Treorchy-based credit union to congratulate Dragonsavers on winning the coveted International Credit Union Leadership Development and Education Foundation’s Beacon Award.

Ms Wood said: “I want to congratulate Dragonsavers for collecting numerous awards and accolades. 



“It is testament to the hard work and dedication of staff that they have been commended in this way.  I would like to wish everyone at Dragonsavers and their members all the very best for the future.”



Recognised as the Credit Union "Oscars" the awards celebrate not only inspiring work undertaken by credit unions and individuals for their owner-members but also for the communities they serve.

The Plaid Cymru Leader congratulated Christina Stoneman on being named the joint winner of the Credit Union General Manager of the Year Award for her outstanding work at the helm of the organisation.

Dragonsavers also received the Edward Filene Award for Performance Excellence in Social Entrepreneurship – the Supreme Award – having achieved the highest score across all of the award categories

They also racked up a fourth award when they were recognised for giving a first-class service in response to telephone enquiries.

General Manager Christina Stoneman said: “To receive four top awards is an incredible achievement and we are very honoured to be recognised by our peers in this way.

“We continually strive to deliver the best possible service as an organisation and make a genuine change to the financial security of our members which ultimately has a positive impact on their lives.”
